about

Written mostly during binge watching Stranger Things 2, this album is influenced by the idea of the mid 80's, anachronistically using a digital synth from 1974. That synth is the Jiggery Pokery Sound Harmonic Synthesizer, with which this entire album was written.

As with nanoBots, I tried to squeeze as much out of the synth in terms of sound design as I could with a conceptual purposes, such as thunder, rain, fire, groaning and screaming. I attempted also to emulate the sound of a vinyl record player using the JPSHS as the source of the rumble, noise, pops, clicks and 60hz hum. The "record player" effect is blended into some tracks during intros and outros, but not sustained through duration of them.

Drums and percussion are also generated by the JPSHS for a lot of the album, blended with real drums here and there from the Reason Factory sound bank, and from JackBox L1MDrum. Please read each song's description for more in depth details.

We all know clowns can be the scariest monsters of all, so it only seemed natural to include some silly circus music. I've always like calliope music, and silly music in general. Hence, the "Clowns" aspect of this album.

Special thanks to Pickles Dickley for the voice, encouragement and inspiration.
